Would you like to help provide a better understanding of the health of our rivers? The Rivers Trust are providing a free and easy, Big river Watch survey that is a perfect opportunity to become a citizen scientist and help gather information about healthy blue spaces (rivers and lakes).
Last year in the UK and Ireland recorders spotted:
- 1,500 ducks
- 414 riverflies
- 352 kingfishers
Get involved between 6th and 12th September this year and see what you can find. All you need to do is:
- Download the free Big River Watch app, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
- Visit your local river, or explore a new one, and spending 15 minutes observing and recording what you see in the simple in-app survey.
- Press upload to share your findings.
By recording wildlife sightings, pollution, barriers, and more, you’re helping to build a comprehensive picture of river health across the UK and Ireland – something that is greatly needed as we fight for cleaner waters, tackle pollution and plan conservation effort.
