Water Conservation

Irish Water have launched a campaign to Save Water by urging ‘Hand-washing over power-washing’.  It estimates that each person is using up to 24 litres of water more each day during this Covid pandemic. Whilst emphasising the importance of continued hand-washing to combat the virus it is important to take other measures to minimise water use.

Fortunately, we have been enjoying beautiful dry sunny days for weeks now, but this results in reduced water levels in our lakes and rivers which are the source of 80% of our water supply. Leading into the summer months it is more important than ever to be mindful of our water use.

Simple measures include timing your shower, washing vegetables in a basin, watering plants in the evening using a watering can, letting yellow mellow in the toilet.
