New Catchment Summary Reports are made available on www.catchments.ie

To mark the launch of the  River Basin Management Plan, Cycle 3 Water Action Plan, the EPA Catchments Unit published 46 Catchment Assessment Summary Reports. These assessments provide an overview of the latest data available in each catchment and includes:

  • A Water Quality Summary
  • Details of High-Status Objective waterbodies
  • Water Quality Changes (including status changes from 2010 to 2021)
  • Water Framework Directive Risk (at risk, not at risk, in review)
  • Significant Pressures
  • Action planned for the catchment

The Appendix in each report includes a list of all waterbodies (rivers, lakes and coastal waters)  in the catchment and provides waterbody scale information such as its ecological status changes from 2010 to 2021, if it is at risk of not meeting Water Framework Directives and why this might be so.  The responsible Local Authority is also identified. Links are included to view the data on maps in www.catchments.ie
