Water Forum Annual Report for 2022

The Water Forum’s Annual Report for 2022 is now available.

Dr Matt Crowe took up the role of Chairperson in early 2022. We had approval of our new Strategic Plan for 2022-2027.

Our committees had a busy year with a lot of engagement in preparing our submission to the draft River Basin Management Plan which we presented to Minister O’Brien and Minister Noonan and provided further advice to the Water Policy Advisory Committee. We also make policy submissions on Irish Water’s Regional Water Resources Plans and to other consultations including the National Biodiversity Action Plan.

We hosted a well attended webinar on public participation in catchment management and held a water conservation workshop with department officials and industry representatives.

Dr Sarah Cotterill won the UCD NOVA award for research on A Framework for Improving Domestic Water Conservation in Ireland  commissioned by the Water Forum.

Early findings from research commissioned by the Forum on the potential impacts of climate change on water quality and water quality was presented by the researchers to Dr Triona McGrath in a podcast for National Science week.   Dr Conor Murphy of Maynooth University provided an introduction to the podcast.
