Sharing research findings

The Water Forum commissioned research on the Potential Impacts of Climate Change of Water Quality and Water Quantity. In this discussion, Dr Triona McGrath, Research & Policy Lead with the Forum discusses research findings with Dr Michelle McKeown of University College Cork and with Dr Fiachra O’Loughlin from University College Dublin.

Water Forum Panel Discussion on the Potential Impacts of Climate change on water quantity and water quality.

The researchers highlight  that Ireland needs much more strategic planning  and responses to drought that will be particularly impactful in the east and south in the coming years. Climate change will bring more extreme rainfall events so more urgent action is needed to reduce pollutants on land as these are highly susceptible to mobilisation during such events causing pollution in our waterways.
